ABOUT

Nate (b. 1995, Connecticut) received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology and MD from the University of Connecticut. He is currently a psychiatry resident in San Francisco.

Nate is a digital photographer specializing in lifestyle, street, and landscape photography. He focuses on capturing candid moments, natural light, and the subtle details that often go unnoticed. With a clean and minimalistic style, his work explores the intersection of everyday life and visual story telling — whether on bustling city streets or in quiet, open landscapes.

Outside of photography, he enjoys spending time with his fiancé, two dogs, and friends.

“The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words.”

FAQs

  • I am using a Fujifilm XT-5 for digital, and a Canon A-1 for film. I also occasionally use a Canon EOS Rebel T7.

  • Depends on the type of day and location! For mid-day with direct sun, I like Kodak Ektar 100. For early morning or evening sunsets, I enjoy Kodak Portra 400 or Kodak Gold 200. On a cloudy day I might reach for Cinestill 400D. Cinestill 800T is my favorite for night shots with prominent artificial light, though 400D works well here too.

  • Officially, since 2024. Unofficially, since I got my first iPhone back in high school! I have always had an interest in capturing moments of everyday life, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to do it now with more professional tools.

  • Yes, my photos have some light color and exposure adjustments. I edit in Adobe Lightroom.

  • (1) Reference, reference, reference! Draw inspiration from other creators whose work speaks to you. Feel empowered to ask around to develop tips and tricks.

    (2) Try not to be discouraged if things aren’t turning out the way you like. I end up like every 10th or so photo I take. Sometimes, it takes time!

    (3) Always have fun with it! Photography is just art, meant to be enjoyed by the viewer and the creator. If you have a passion for it, it will shine through.
